Are You A Champion?
When most people think about being a champion they associate it with defeating a rival or fighting for a cause. Images of trophies, awards and public recognition are closely linked to the definition. As a result most people don’t consider themselves a champion and most often because they don’t champion for themselves.
Do you start your day in an empowered state of mind? Do you advocate for your best interests? Are you a champion of change for yourself? Do you stand up for your beliefs?
Answer those questions for yourself; then consider how some of today’s champions would answer those questions:
Muhammad Ali – “I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.”
Billy Jean King – “I think self-awareness is probably the most important thing towards being a champion.”
Oprah Winfrey – “I always knew I was destined for greatness.”
Bill Gates – “I failed some subjects in exam but my friend passed in all. Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft.”
Mahatma Gandhi – “Champions are made from something they have deep inside of them-a desire, a dream, a vision.”
How do we become our own champion?
- Start right – create daily rituals that start your day right. Consider any or all of the following each day: journaling, gratitude, motivational tapes, exercise, reading, Bible study, whatever gets your creative juices flowing.
- Find alignment – create alignment daily. It is vital to find alignment with your dreams and aspirations either at work or at home. If you believe your dreams won’t fund your current lifestyle, find fulfillment outside of work. Once you do, your work will have more meaning because it’s a means to fund your passion.
- Know your strengths – make a list of all your skills and abilities so you can confidently express yourself with and for others.
- Voice your ideas – every champion needs a voice. Without a voice your thoughts and ideas can never become reality.
You are your own best champion – OWN IT AND WIN in life!
